A lovely doll by Franz Schmidt dating from 1902.

She has blue glass eyes which open and close perfectly all of the original eyelid wax is intact and the remains of her real hair eyelashes. Her open mouth reveals four original teeth. She has pierced ears, so probably made for the French market. Her gorgeous original wig and pate are still in lovely condition. She has a perfect head with the S & C initials at the top and Simon & Halbig, who would have made the heads for Franz Schmidt.  She is on a very good body with all the original paint and sheen. Her handmade dress looks to be original , there is some fading and a some  small holes but it is delightful . She has two vintage petticoats and pantaloons. Her lovely pink silk shoes are later additions. Her vintage hat is cream with feather decoration.
